The demands of our software regarding computing power are rather low. Even on the current low end Apple systems or on models two to four years old, our tools run with satisfying speed. We recommend to use Mac OS X 10.10 or newer, since most of our software is optimized for the newer versions and we can't test all old systems anymore. Nevertheless some older apps will run perfectly well on older OS versions (ask us). While 2GB main memory will usually be fine, we recommend at least 4GB of memory. If you plan to virtualize Windows, you may consider going for 8 GB of RAM. Another matter is hard disk size. The more the better, especially if you run multiple batcorder systems. Expect to reach 20 to 100 GB within a single year then if you do a lot of surveys or longterm monitoring. Nevertheless, files can either be initially stored on external discs as well as archived on these after you have finished your projects.
A cheap entry model is the Mac mini. If you want a screen included, consider getting an iMac 21,5". For mobile working, any of the mobile Macs will do, nevertheless, more screen size will make working easier.
iPhone OS devices are not compatible to our software (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad).
We discourage from using virtualized Mac systems like VMWare. These do not have the necessary graphics functions leading to missing graphs and display problems.
